Simple solutions for complicated times

Coming up with a new, but an effective idea is difficult. It's easy to replicate ideas, but coming up with something unique, and better than its alternatives is what we united to do.

Chemise has been in the pipeline for a while now. We wanted to achieve smartphone-level interaction with a device, that could be portable, accessible and cheap. We decided to integrate the circuitry of a keyboard, 3-layer membrane along with a microcontroller, into a regular shirt. We mapped various keys of the keyboard, to various functions. When the user presses a specific key on his shirt, the input is recognised by Raspberry Pi Zero-W, through a Python script being run in the background at all times. When an input is detected by a script, it is sent to and stored in a Firebase. We've created an Android application, which fetches the stored data directly from the Firebase and performs the necessary functionality in the device. This product is inspired by Google's Project Jacquard.

These are the product's main features-

It allows you to accept a call, end a call, or place an emergency call. Also, we've used Android text-to-speech for 3rd party apps to give away the caller's identity too.

One can scroll through different songs on a playlist, different albums using the device. It also allows the feature of pause, toggle and plays songs. For all Android applications in use, the device enables you to increase or decrease volumes, either during a Spotify song, or a Youtube video, or a Whatsapp voice chat.
